As another rewarding school year draws to a close, educators are facing an exciting opportunity–a summer filled with possibilities for growth and discovery. With AI becoming such an important part of education, this is the perfect time for teachers to explore these new tools at their own pace. Summer can be both refreshing AND enriching!
Why Summer Exploration Matters
Teachers have given so much to their students this year. Summertime offers a precious change for teachers to reflect, recharge, and engage in personal growth outside of the classroom. This time can also be served as a personal innovation lab; a space where educators can explore exciting trends, especially AI, and find what words for them. It’s a stress-free learning space for the ones who need it most… welcome to your “tech sandbox”!
What is a Tech Sandbox?
A "tech sandbox" is what we call a secure, supportive space for experimentation. Think of it as a pressure-free space where educators can experiment, learn, and yes–even make mistakes. No deadlines, no restless students, just pure discovery at each teacher’s own pace.

Setting Up Your Space
Find the perfect learning spot: Whether it’s a sunny corner of the home office or a favorite local cafe, ensure it's a spot where creativity calls.
Gather the tools: A reliable computer and internet connection, and maybe a community meant for fellow educators on the same journey.
Prompt, prompt, prompt. Maybe try automating old class lessons, ask AI to build new lessons for certain ideas in mind, or simply ask AI to keep refining prompts you’ve already given it.
Don’t Forget to Take Breaks… It’s Summer!
Summer is still summer! Teachers can mix bits of learning with plenty of relaxation. Perhaps tackle AI in the morning, but head to the beach later that afternoon. A few hours per week working with AI during the summer can create leaps in educators’ comfort with using it in the fall!
Tracking Progress
Try using a digital journal or sharing with fellow teachers to document findings. This practice not only helps in tracking progress but also serves as a resource to reflect on growth and share insights with the teaching community.
Keep the Momentum
As fall approaches, educators will be amazed by their progress! Now it's time to turn summer learnings into classroom lessons. Teachers aren’t just learning about AI; they’re becoming part of an exciting movement to make education ever better! The possibilities for discovery this summer are endless.
